US Foreign Policy

The United States will soon have a new President. Barack Obama won by a sweeping majority. His election was both a choice for positive change for this exciting politician with an extensive background as much as it was an indictment against George Bush, including his foreign policy.
Barack Obama does not walk on water and he is inheriting a national debt so deep that it will no doubt blunt his early initiatives. We are so anxious to begin anew with his administration, but as Americans, we are also cautious and concerned because of the state of the economy worldwide.
Yet, it is possible to have a foreign policy we can be proud of again.
I would like to start a new discussion and invite all of you to participate. The title perhaps is a bit broad, and we may find that we need to focus it more. But lets begin with our US Foreign Policy. What changes would you like our new President to take regarding the Middle East more broadly, and Lebanon more specifically? Lets start with that.
We are going to link this discussion with the web site Global Visits so that the discussion can be seen on both LebJournal and Global Visits. This discussion will give exposure of your online journal to more Americans as well as getting us both involved in a mutual discussion of great interest.
Our conversation will have to be in English! And the Brits would claim we do not even speak that very well for all our habits of slang and contractions. I will alert everyone already registered with Global Visits to participate.
Here in the US our universities are about to prepare for finals, then a break for the holidays. I am sure come January we can even build up a discussion for classroom participation. But for now, among our current membership (which is always growing!) we can begin this discussion.
