Technical Design Director

Engineering or Architecture degree from a reputed university.

ATTRIBUTES SOUGHT

The Technical Director must demonstrate an ability to work closely
with the General Manager and other HOD’s to manage a multidiscipline
and multicultural work force. Furthermore, lead the engineering
design, proposals & contracts, quality teams in the bidding and
executing engineering design projects. Lead project managers, Heads
of departments for structural, landscaping, urban planning,
mechanical, electrical and environmental design teams toward meeting
contractual obligations and Client’s needs and expectations.
Establish systems and procedures for enhancing effective QA for
design operations.

POSITION PREREQUISITES:

A professional with no less than 10 to 15 years relevant experience
that includes a good portion in international engineering
organizations that provide design and construction management
services to infrastructure markets (Mixed use developments, High-rise,
Sports & recreational facilities, educational & specialized projects -
hospitals etc).
Previous experience in proposal & contract negotiations / management
is required with advanced knowledge and skills to develop design
concept ensuring that all aspects are technically sound and
compatible with the scope of Work.
Previous experience in setting up project partnership, strategic
alliances and joint ventures (both domestic and international) with
companies for the bidding and execution of projects.
High moral values and professional ethics.
Proven track record in organizational change management in similar
types of businesses. Management style and experience interfacing with
an Owner to develop balanced strategic views based on total company
capabilities.
As this role will involve man-management this position requires a
leader yet team player.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for directing and managing Projects and liaising with
clients, and other specialists, to ensure both commercial and
technical performance are in line with SOW (Scope of Work).
Program, plan and co-ordinate all design Project activities including
the provision of design and technical information, ensuring accuracy,
completeness and delivery within schedule and allocated budget
Managing multiple projects concurrently with experience in project
controls to manage the design operations on time and within budget.
Provide supervision and guidance on all design and technical matters.
Review and resolve interdisciplinary design and technical issues to
ensure the most effective and efficient design is adopted
Monitor projects progress and prepare regular reports for GM,
addressing resource planning and highlight any significant variances
in manpower budget expenditure together with recommendations for
corrective action, if necessary
Provide design and technical assistance in instances where
modifications or variations are necessary. Recommend value
engineering solutions when applicable.
Act as the solid line manager for the head of engineering teams for
structural, landscaping, urban planning, mechanical, electrical and
environmental design.
